I WAS ONCE A DESIGNER / UNA VEZ FUI UNA DISEÑADORA

Como os he anunciado en algún post, tuve una época en la que quería ser diseñadora y de hecho lo fui. Estudié Diseño de Moda en FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising) en Los Angeles y también trabajé para Custo Barcelona, MK Solo y BCBG; todo en la misma ciudad. Además creé mi propia marca de accesorios que luego fue evolucionando añadiendo alguna prenda de vestir. La aventura en el mundo del diseño fue preciosa y muy creativa, y en la misma medida, agotadora. Finalmente, decidí dejarlo porque no se llega a todo y porque decidí centrarme en la productora que empecé con mi marido a fines de 2005.
Así que hoy os quiero enseñar lo que hacía y de paso hacer un sorteo. Ahora las miro y no me gustan mucho, pero en su día me encantaban. Este era el blog de mi marca:

As I have mentioned in some of my posts, I once wanted to be a designer and in fact I was one for some time. I studied Fashion Design at FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising) in Los Angeles and worked at Custo Barcelona, MK Solo and BCBG in L.A. I also started my own accessories brand and later I added some clothing too. The whole adventure was great and very creative but also exhausting. I ended up quitting to devote myself to the production company that my husband and I started at the end of 2005.

So today, I want to show you what I designed and also do a give away. Now I look at some of the things and I don´t like them that much, but before I used to love them.

ARE YOU UP FOR HIGH WAIST PANTS? / ¿TE ANIMAS CON LOS TALLES ALTOS?

Hola. Una de mis seguidoras en YouTube me pidió que hiciera un vídeo sobre cómo llevar los pantalones de talle alto. La verdad es que no he tenido tiempo de comprarme unos de talle realmente altos, así que he tirado de estos que al menos no lo tienen bajo. Mirad el vídeo donde explico algunos truquitos.

Hello. One of my Youtube followers asked me to shoot a video on how to wear high waist pants. The truth is that I have been too busy to be able to buy some true high waist pants. So I have used these jeans that at least are not low waist. Check out the video where I give you some ideas.

Tengo que decir 7 cosas graciosas de mí para lo que he pedido ayuda a mi marido porque no se me ocurren:

1. No me sé los refranes tal y como son y siempre acabo mezclando varios.
2. Interpreto los chistes a mí manera y no donde en realidad está la gracia.
3. Sigo bailando como cuando tenía 14 años.
4. Siempre digo que no tengo ropa a pesar de ocupar 2 armarios.
5. Cada vez que vamos a restaurante, me gusta pedir algo nuevo. No suelo repetir.
6. Me compro muchos libros de cocina para terminar haciendo los mismos platos.
7. Soy muy inocente y siempre lo seré.

1. I never remember sayings so I end up mixing up words from one and another.

5. I always try new food at restaurants. I don´t like repeating the same dishes.

6. I buy many cooking books to end up doing the same dishes.

WHEN THE PARTY IS OVER/ CUANDO SE ACABA LA FIESTA

He encontrado estas fotos que saqué en septiembre cuando estaba preparando el comienzo del blog. Y he decidido dar un respiro al invierno y sacarlas al ruedo. Con estas fotos quiero reflejar esos finales de boda o de fiesta en los que una va rota y no da para más; se ríe por tonterías, se quita los zapatos y se hace daño, corre por los campos, gira la cabeza por hacer algo, pierde el bolso… Quizá pienso que a vosotras este paraje no os inspira a fiesta pero es que yo ya he tenido unas cuantas ahí…

Pero no os penséis… ¡ese día iba como una rosa! ¿Y vosotras? ¿Cómo son vuestros finales de fiesta?

I have found these pictures that I took at the end of September when I was getting my blog ready to launch. I have decided to have a break from the Winter and bring them to the front row. With these pictures I want to represent those wedding party endings or just party endings. Those moments when you are exhausted, and can´t keep going; you take your shoes off and your feet hurt, you laugh at nonsense, you run through the fields, shake your head just for fun, loose your purse… Maybe this setings doesn´t suggest to you a party but I have had many in this location…

But don´t get the wrong idea… I was fresh as a rose that day. And you? How are your party endings?

WHITE TIGHTS / MEDIAS BLANCAS

Las medias se han convertido en el artículo que nunca puede faltar en mi armario. Casi siempre visto con falda o vestido porque cuando voy con pantalón me da la sensación de no ir arreglada. Fíjate que tontería, pero me pasa así. Suelo tender a medias de un solo color aunque esta temporada me estoy sintiendo muy tentada por los encajes, el plumeti y los motivos florales.

Hoy he elegido hacer un especial con medias blancas que eran un gran olvidado y que parece que ahora se lleva. ¿A vosotras qué medias os van?

Tights have become a key item in my closet. Most of the time I wear skirts or dresses because when I wear pants or jeans I feel like I am not dressed up enough. I know it sounds silly, but that is what happens to me. I usually wear simple one color tights although this season I am being tempted by polka dots, lace and flower print tights.

Today, I have decided to make a special on white tights that I totally forgot about and that now they are in. What kind of tights do you like wearing?

THE VERSATILITY OF STRIPES / LA VERSATILIDAD DE LAS RAYAS

Hola. El otro día fuimos a sacarme unas fotos con nuestra hija. Qué risas. Aquí veis las pocas fotos que se salvaron después de un buen rato congelándonos de frío. Cada vez que me ponía para la foto, mi hija venía corriendo diciendo mami y terminaba apareciendo en la foto. ¿A vosotras os salen las fotos bien rápido? ¿Cuántas fotos sacáis hasta tener la buena? Yo soy cero fotogénica y para cuando tengo una… Y eso sí, las que se salvan son siempre las que no miro a cámara.

Este look sin quererlo me recuerda a la Navidad. Yo creo porque se me parece a la ropa de los artistas circenses y siempre he ido al circo por estas fechas. También creo que puede ser la versatilidad de las rayas que depende de cómo y cuándo te las pongas pueden crear looks de lo más variado: marinero, romántico, rockero, popero, grunge, circense… ¿No os pasa?

Hello. The other day we went to take some pictures with my little daughter. How much fun! Here you see the few photos that we could save from a long session trying not to freeze outside. Every time I posed for the picture she came to me saying ‘mummy’ and she ended up in the picture. Are you fast when you take your pictures? How many pictures do you take until you get the good ones? I am not very photogenic and it takes quite a lot of attempts… also I try to choose the ones that I am not looking at the camera.

This look reminds me somehow of Christmas. I think it reminds me of the artists at the Circus and I used to go the Circus at this time of the year. Or maybe it is the versatility of the stripes that depending on how and when you wear them they can create so many different looks: sailor, romantic, rock n roll, pop, grunge, circus performer… Don’t you think?

THE POWER OF ACCESSORIES

Y qué os voy a contar que no sepáis de la magia de los accesorios. Los accesorios son una auténtica pasión para mí. Empecé diseñando collares y los vendía en las tiendas de Los Angeles a pesar de lo mal que lo pasaba haciendo de comercial. Y después seguí con los pendientes, las pulseras, hasta terminar haciendo una colección de corbatas para mujeres, que es la que os enseñaré en Navidad. Jaja, aumento el suspense…

Por la fuerza que tienen a veces hay que dejarlos que actúen por sí solos y eso es lo que he hecho hoy. La prenda base es un buzo negro muy sencillo, pero cómodo, excepto cuando necesitas visitar los servicios. ;) Veros el vídeo en el que explico más sobre cómo llevarlo. Mi marido dice que este vídeo tiene más contenido que otros…

What am I going to say that you don’t know already! Accessories are a real passion for me. I started designing necklaces and I sold them in the stores in Los Angeles even though I had a hard time working as my sales person. Later I continued with earrings and bracelets, until I ended up designing a woman's ties collection that is the one I will show you at Christmas. The mystery continues…

Since they have such powers sometimes we have to let them stand on their own. And this is what I have done today. The basic piece is a jumpsuit that is simple and comfortable, except when you need to visit the restrooms. ;) Have a look at the video where I explain the process in detail and it has subtitles, especially created for you.

THIS DRESS HAS WINGS LIKE MY TWITTER

Hoy me he puesto este vestido con alas para hablaros de mi Twitter. Twitter significa en inglés el gorjear de los pájaros. Y eso es lo que es este espacio de micro blogging, un cotorrear continuo de todos lo humanos que hablamos de las cosas que nos interesan y de lo que estamos haciendo en cada momento.
